徧用
へんよう
原文
天下之至柔、馳騁天下之至堅。無有入無間。吾是以知無爲之有益。不言之教、無爲之益、天下希及之。
書き下し文
天下の至柔は、天下の至堅を馳騁す。有無きもの無間に入る。吾れ是を以て無爲の益有るを知る。不言の教へ、無爲の益、天下之に及ぶこと希なり。
現代語訳
天下でこの上なく柔らかいものは、天下でこの上なく堅いものを、思いのままに動かし尽くす。かたちを持たない「無有」は、隙間のないところにさえ入り込んでいく。私はこのことから、無為であることにこそ益があるのだと知るのである。言葉によらぬ教えと、作為をなさぬことの益、この二つに天下で並びうるものはほとんどない。
中文釋義
天下最柔软的东西，能够驾驭、穿行于天下最坚硬的东西之中；那没有形体的力量，甚至能渗入没有缝隙的地方。我因此明白了无为所带来的好处。不用言语的教化，不刻意作为所带来的益处，天下很少有什么能够与之相比。
English
The softest thing under heaven overrides the hardest; what has no substance can enter where there is no gap. From this I know the benefit of non-action. Teaching without words, the gain of non-contrivance — few things under heaven can match them. Softness, not force, proves the deeper power; and what is unspoken often instructs more than what is argued.

硬く構えて押し通そうとするより、柔らかく在り続けるほうが、結局は物事の奥深くまで届く。言葉を尽くさなくても、ただそこに在るあり方そのものが、何かを静かに伝えることがある。力を込めずに済む道があるなら、まずそちらを試してみたい。

遇事好用强,以为力大者胜。老子却说,天下之至柔,能驰骋天下之至坚;无形之物,连没有缝隙的地方也能渗入。与人相处亦然,声色俱厉未必服人,一味退让、静默守拙,反倒能潜移默化,渗入人心最深处。今日若遇僵局,不妨先收起强辞,以柔缓之姿等待,看看事情是否会自己松动。
A Word for Today
When a situation stalls, the instinct is to push harder — more argument, more force, more insistence on being right. But what is soft often finds its way where the hard cannot, slipping into places force could never reach. Silence, too, sometimes teaches more than any amount of talking. Before reaching for pressure today, it may be worth trying patience instead, and letting the matter loosen quietly on its own, the way water finds every gap without ever breaking anything.
