玄德
げんとく
原文
知者不言、言者不知。塞其兌、閉其門、挫其銳、解其紛、和其光、同其塵、是謂玄同。故不可得而親、不可得而疏。不可得而利、不可得而害。不可得而貴、不可得而賤。故爲天下貴。

知る者は言はず、言ふ者は知らず。其の兌を塞ぎ、其の門を閉ぢ、其の銳を挫き、其の紛を解き、其の光を和らげ、其の塵に同ず、是を玄同と謂ふ。故に得て親しむべからず、得て疏んずべからず。得て利すべからず、得て害すべからず。得て貴ぶべからず、得て賤しむべからず。故に天下の貴と爲る。
現代語訳
本当に知っている者は多くを語らず、多くを語る者は実は深く知ってはいない。感覚の窓を塞ぎ、欲望の入り口を閉ざし、鋭さを和らげ、もつれを解きほぐし、自分の光を弱めて、周囲の塵とひとつになる。これを玄同、すなわち万物と見分けのつかぬほどに溶け合った状態と言う。そこまで至った者は、誰かに特別親しまれることも、疎んじられることもなく、利を得ることも害を被ることもなく、貴ばれることも賤しめられることもない。だからこそ、そのような人こそが天下でもっとも貴い存在となるのである。
中文釋義
真正懂得道的人不多说话,滔滔不绝的人反而并不真懂。堵住感官向外张望的孔窍,关闭欲念纷起的门户,收敛自己的锋芒,解开心中的纠结,收敛光耀,与尘世混同为一体,这就叫做玄同,与万物浑然一体、不再分别彼此。到了这个境界,便不能用亲近去笼络他,不能用疏远去伤害他;不能用利益引诱他,不能用祸害威胁他;不能用尊贵抬举他,不能用卑贱贬低他。正因为超越了这些世俗的分别,他才成为天下最尊贵的人。
English
Those who truly know do not speak of it; those who speak of it do not truly know. The sage blocks the openings of the senses, closes the gates of desire, blunts his sharpness, unties his tangles, dims his light, and merges with the dust of the world — this is called the mystery of sameness. Having dissolved every distinction, he can no longer be drawn close or pushed away, benefited or harmed, honored or humbled by others. Precisely because he stands outside these worldly categories, he becomes the most valued thing under heaven.

知っているほど声高に語りたくなるものだが、本当に理解している人ほど、静かに輪の中に溶け込んでいる。職場でも、鋭さを誇示し続ければ摩擦が絶えないが、角を少し丸め、周囲と同じ塵をかぶる姿勢でいれば、かえって信頼が集まる。特別扱いを求めず、疎まれることも恐れず、ただ淡々とそこにいること。それもまた、静かな強さの形である。

懂得越多,越想说给别人听,以显见识;可老子说,知者不言,言者不知。真正透彻的人,反倒收敛锋芒、解开纷扰,与周遭融为一体,不争亲疏、不较贵贱,也因此不易被外物动摇。今日若在人群中忍不住要显露见识、争一时高下,不妨试着少说一分,把棱角磨圆一些。不张扬的人,往往走得更稳、更远。
A Word for Today
The more one comes to understand, the stronger the urge grows to explain it all to everyone nearby, if only to prove the understanding is real. Yet those who truly know something tend to speak of it least, not most. Real depth blunts its own sharp edges rather than putting them on display, blending quietly into the room instead of standing apart from it. If today brings a chance to prove some point, holding back a little may serve better than saying it all out loud.
